if you move at an angle against a wall you won't need to tap strafe key and you can move at up to 277 u/s. There is also an exploit that works in 1.6/source that makes you move faster, if you run or walk at an angle, while tapping the opposite strafe key to continue moving in a straight line, you'll notice with 'cl_showpos 1' that your speed is more than 250 u/s. There's crouch hopping in 1.6 (has many other names like russian walking, silent walking), you'll find tutorials for it on youtube Strafe jumps are different from bhopping, strafe jumps still exist and they are an important part of the game to make longer jumps and initiate bhops. im not sure what changed to make it harder, csgo uses a bigger friction value (sv_friction 5.2) as opposed to (sv_friction 4) so that's one reason, but it's not the only one
In half-life 1 and early versions of counter strike you could bhop like in Quake, but that did not fit the game.īhopping was easier in 1.6/source than in csgo, especially if you used the mousewheel for jumping (which most pros did and still do).
